Lets set the world on fire, it can burn brighter

Midi Dress: New Look. Sheer Jumper: New Look Kids. Shoes: c/o: So You Shoes

Call me a Jealous Julie, but I've always perved on the many beautiful ladies who can pull off the midi so well, and still look like they have enough leg length to run to France with. Unlike little leg me.
I'm more of a Stumpy Sandra so it's either a full maxi that makes me look like a mushroom, or the super short which could be seen as a bonus for the people who walk behind me. If that's ever you.. Disappointing huh?
But wait for it.. (insert story I always say lately) I decided to buy one. I hadn't set about looking for one, I think I'd given up that I just wasn't destined to create the long leg look. I'd even given up hope with New Look and headed to the shop doors with only a jumper big enough to fit a 12 year old in my bag. And that's where I came across the dress. To be honest, I'm such an impulse buyer and buying this dress goes to show. I mean after months of telling myself midi's just wouldn't work on me, and the fact I very rarely wear strappy top, just proves that YES I do think I have all the money in the world. But reality? Far from it!
But being an impulse buyer isn't all that bad, because quite honestly I am thrilled with it. I can play vampires in it, resemble Cinderella in it, attempt to look cool in it, and darn, I can even HIDE under it.
This dress is just what I've been looking for. And if you're like me and looking for something in particular...give up on it!
Because that's when it normally comes along, and fits perfectly into your wardrobe.

  2. You look LOVELY in a midi! But I know exactly how you feel, I seriously love how they look on other people, and I bought quite a few as a result. Every time I wear mine, I spend the rest of my time feeling seriously short, or a lot older than my time.
But you definitely pull it off, looks amazing!
    Love Charlie xoxo.

  5. I know exactly how you feel, Im a short too and not only last week I took the midi plunge and gave in - and in result I love my midi haha. I think wearing a heel helps because mine looks ridiculous when I have flats on lol but we wont ever go there (damn you short legs). BUT You look lovely Katy, the sheerness is so pretty. Oh and Can we play Vampires together? :) xo

  7. katy you are my bloggy soulmate. i definitely agree with practically everything you say. i'm definitely inspired to try the midi dress having seen how well you carry it off.. i've always been put off by how short i am and believed it hindered my ability to wear anything longer than by my knees (oeeeerr!) xxx

  8. I think it works missy. I bought one of those dipped hem midi skirt from primark the other week. it makes me look RIDICULOUS. I will wear it in an outfit soon (then give it to someone it will look good on) so you can laugh at me.
also newlook/h&m kids are brilliant for cheapy clothes! z

  9. I think the dress looks lovely on you! I've been wanting to buy a sheer assymetrical maxi skirt for ages, but worried I will look silly in one - being 5'2" and all that. Perhaps I should give up looking for the perfect one [as well as everything else I want], maybe trying your method will help!
Impulse buying can be good. I'm trying to only buy something if I LOVE it as SOON as I set eyes on it. Shame I love pretty much everything. xx

  11. Looking pretty in midi! It looks really nice with the heels, and you look tall!!! I am a shorty too and would love to wear midi's more but i refuse to wear heels (other than on nights out so bouncers don't think I'm 10 years old) because I wibble wobble in high shoes!

  13. Midi and maxi skirts elude me, I find they make me look huge. You obviously don't have this problem because you look stunning missy!

I guess impulse buying is a good thing because it makes you buy things you wouldn't think twice about.
